Head Of Two Security Guard Companies Indicted For Withholding Sales Taxes.

Abdur Rashid Salaam, the head of two security guard companies; Safe& Secured Protective Services, INC. and T.S.I Special Services, INC., was indicted on felony charges of Grand Larceny for stealing more than $1.2 million from the State of New York by withholding collected sales taxes.

Salaam’s security companies provide security guards to residential buildings throughout New York City. It was also Salaam’s duty to invoice and collect sales taxes from these residential buildings, which is required to be submitted to the state.

However from 2003, Salaam began withholding sales taxes he collected from his two companies and diverting considerable portions of the sales taxes to himself. Throughout these years, he also failed to file non-resident income tax returns with the State if New York.

Salaam and his two companies were charged with Grand Larceny in the 1st and 2nd degree and Criminal Tax Fraud.  Salaam was additionally charged with Repeated Failure to File Person Income and Earnings Tax
