Youth Counselor Sentenced To More Than 10 Years In Prison For Promoting Prostitution

by BCheung on June 1, 2010

A month after the jury’s conviction of 2nd and 3rd degree promoting prostitution and endangering the welfare of a child, Terrell Mitchell, a youth counselor for a New York City non-profit group, was sentenced to 10½ years in prison for attempting to pimp a 15 year old girl.

Investigation on Mitchell’s case revealed that he picked up a runaway minor on March 5, 2008 and cajoled her to performing sexual favors for others in exchange for money. Later that evening, the minor approached two undercover officers and offered to perform sexual intercourse with them in exchange for money for Mitchell.
